“Unofficial” Goodbye..

The time has come.. I just left my house in Florence and I’m on my way to Ancona and then to my hometown, Athens.

This change will be really difficult at first. Of course I’ll miss this amazing city and all the people I’m leaving behind. This is an unofficial goodbye not only because I’m coming back soon for my thesis, but because I intend to visit really often! So beware!
Below some photos from this last week in Florence. Have a nice day people!

photo 4_Snapseed

Hi everyone! Yesterday I attended the Disaronno Terrace event at Società Canottieri Firenze (Rowing club).. It’s the second event organized by Disaronno in Florence and every week they’re organizing similar events all over Italy. Of course the location in Florence is the best by far!

Great music by WHITE CHESTNUT featuring Valentina Nervi and Alessandro Gigli..!

Unusual Easter..

Happy Easter everyone!

I hope you all had a great time yesterday. My Easter was once again away from my family and all the traditional greek festivities, but I had a great time staying in Florence and since in three months i’m leaving I want to enjoy every corner of this wonderful city..

Unfortunately this year I missed the  Scoppio del Carro, remember this  folk tradition of the city? So me and Nadia went for lunch at 4 Leoni, one of my favorite restaurants where I alaways eat Fiocchetti di pere in salsa di taleggio e asparagi (pasta filled with pear in taleggio cheese and asparagus sauce ) the best dish ever!

Then we went for a coffee at Piazza Santo Spirito and then for a gelato at Gelateria La Carraia, one of my favorite places for ice-cream! Soon i’ll share with you all of my favorite gelato places in Florence!

Aperitivo time! The weather was great and we were close to Ponte Vecchio, so the only place where you can sit outside without all the tourists passing by is Amblé, situated only a few steps away from the famous ladmark, in a well hidden square away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Number 1 on the unusualflorence map! A space designed as a living room where you can eat and shop at the same time, so first you can have a sandwich and if you like the chair or sofa you are sitting on, or the cup of tea you’re drinking you can actually buy them!

I had a Spritz “Bunny” and then a delicious tramezzino.

At first we were only me Nadia and Elisabetta, but slowly the company grew and Matteo Q., Irene, Matteo B., Michele, Francesca and Elisa were added to our lovely company. I had a great time this very “Unusual Easter” thank you guys!

Happy belated birthday Urbanzip!!

Hi everyone!

Last Saturday it was our first birthday! We discussed with Rania about posting something, but between one thing and another we eventually forgot!

Anyway, we want to thank everyone for reading, sharing and giving us feedback! This year was full of moments, bitter or sweet, beautiful walks, new people and many plans for the future. We traveled from Mount Olympus to Rome and from Cyclades to Paris, Venice, Milan, ThessalonikiBarcelona, Valencia, Brussels, Edinburgh, and of course all around Tuscany! We started posting stories, photos, recipes and slowly our group was growing and so did our topics. So besides Rania I would like to thank the 4 other girls of the gang, Andy, Katerina, Stephania and Vera that shared with you and us something of their own, a photo, a story, a journey.

Visit the link below to see some moments of this 1st year together!

New home for International Studio..

Do you remember My International Hairdresser? From the 19th of December they’ve moved to a new location, Via Panicale 61/r, always at the center of Florence but in a totally different area. So yesterday I finally visited their new amazing home, a unique place located in an ancient convent a few steps away from the church of San Lorenzo. Of course I was impressed by the new International studio but I didn’t expect anything less from Gianluca!

Unusual foggy weekend..

Good morning and have a nice week everyone!

My weekend started and ended at exactly the same place, Piazzale Michelangelo!

On Saturday I had breakfast at Ponte San Niccolò, I love going there and just watching the rowers training. After that I had a long stroll through the streets of Florence until sundown. There was an amazing atmosphere created by the fog, I think this is the first time I see the city covered in fog!

Sunday’s in Florence are dedicated to vintage flea markets and every second Sunday of the month it’s held at Santo Spirito square. Irene bought an incredible bicycle for Boutique Nadine! Then me, Elisabetta, Irene and Nikos went at Magaza’s Sunday market where we found Antonia, Dario, Visnja, Elvira, Stefania, Duilio and Cassius!

Unusual lunch..

Hi everyone!

Today it was a perfect day for a walk in the center.. It was lees cold than usual (10°C!) so we decided to have lunch at one of my favorite #unusualflorence place, Brac! Number 8 on the map!

MAPPA_INTERNO_A4_H_2

I can never get enough of this place, I like going there any time of the day and it never disappoints me! Situated in a small street where probably many tourists pass outside without even noticing this “paradise”, but when you enter you’ll never forget it. I’m not a vegetarian but I could eat there every day! This place is unique, it’s one of the places I could go alone and take a cup of tea, read something from their library and relax!

#tldif

I think by now you have figured my addiction to Instagram and the various hashtags.. Well when i’m posting a picture from Florence #tldif is a hashtag I always use which stands for Te la do io Firenze (or I’ll bring you Florence).  Te la do io Firenze is a community, or better, a detailed guide of Florence. In their site such as in their Facebook page you can find everything about the city, restaurants, exhibitions, concerts, generally all kind of different places and hidden parts of Florence!

Yesterday my friend Elisabetta sent me a link with a photo of mine that they posted from Instagram. And guess what? The photo has more than 1.300 likes by now!  For example the same photo I posted some days ago on my Instagram account has almost 40 likes, and that shows all the impact when a page like Te la do io Firenze publishes it. I mean it’s a really strange but definitely satisfying that still makes me wonder. What exactly? Sincerely I don’t know, sometimes I ask myself if my photos are good enough and other times I just hate them! Anyway searching through the facebook page of Te la do io Firenze I found 3 other photos of mine that they published in the past! Overall 4 of my photos with 200-400-600-1.200 likes! Thank you Te la do io Firenze for picking my photos and special thanks to all the people that appreciated them!

Sunny rainy Friday..

This morning I went with Olivia at Galciana, a city that belongs to the municipality of Prato, for our project on landscape design. We took pictures of the area and interviewed some of the inhabitants. It was an amazing sunny day and it was perfect for a stroll by the river back in Florence. So I passed by the house to eat something and to leave my things, but in the meantime the weather completely changed. Either way I went for a walk close to San Niccolò bridge (already posted some pics in the pastwhere I had the chance to see several kids training in rowing. I always like watching rowers along the Arno river, in the future I’ll definitely post about that!

Have a nice weekend everyone!
