Disaronno Terrace..

Hi everyone! Yesterday I attended the Disaronno Terrace event at Società Canottieri Firenze (Rowing club).. It’s the second event organized by Disaronno in Florence and every week they’re organizing similar events all over Italy. Of course the location in Florence is the best by far!

Great music by WHITE CHESTNUT featuring Valentina Nervi and Alessandro Gigli..!

Back to the future..

IMG_2380_Snapseed

Hi everyone!

Usually this time of year I get a nostalgic feeling, a desire to walk by the sea. I’ve already posted here some photos from my favorite walk in my hometown!

Before leaving Athens back in January, I visited the construction site of the new Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center designed by Renzo Piano! The project site is located 4.5 km south of the center of Athens, on the edge of Faliro Bay, and the SNFCC is designed as a multifunctional arts, education and entertainment complex which will house the National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera. It’s been less than a year that the construction began and scheduled to be completed in 2015.

I really look forward to the realization of this project, when it will become the  finale for my favorite walk!

Boutique Nadine reloaded!

MAPPA_INTERNO_DEFINITIVO

Boutique Nadine was our first stop at the #unusualflorence tour for 2013, so it’s only fair to start  for 2014 again with them, on number 8 this time! As you see the map has slightly changed, there are new places added and we are so happy about it!

This Nadine is a relatively new store, opened 2 years ago, situated at Via de’ Benci 32r, Santa Croce area.  A place that perfectly blends vintage and contemporary, always a vintage concept store but with more space for new designers in clothing and jewellery. The thing I love the most is the wooden floor combined with the clean white ceiling and the small living room at the back of course! There you’ll find Matteo helping you with everything!

Have a nice week everyone!

Lunch time and i’m at school eating a sandwich in front of my computer.. Yesterday however I prepared an amazing dish, pasta with steamed meatballs recipe by Gennaro Contaldo. You definitely have to try it!

Goodbye Athens..

Yesterday night, after a very long and tiring journey, I returned to Florence. I was in Athens for nearly a month, a break that I so much needed. Spending some quality time with family and friends, doing absolutely nothing for some days, a walk by the sea, a stroll downtown Athens or overlooking the Acropolis, drinks with friends I haven’t seen for a long time, cooking with mommy, go to the movies and just relax. Now that this break is over I will have to adapt to the harsh reality of the exams. This implies that my presence here will be from limited to negligible and my posts and photos will mainly come from my iphone. After that, however, I intend to explore every corner of the city, as this is my last year here in Florence.

Below I share with you some moments of my stay in Athens. 🙂

An ordinary Tuesday..

Today I was at the university as every Tuesday. It rained like always and at some point I noticed the amazing lit sky. So I ran to the top floor of the faculty to capture this moment, unfortunately I missed a double rainbow seen only from the other side the building. After that I had an aperitivo with Nadia and Umberto and now i’m heading back home.

Below I share with you some photos from my Instagram profile. Buonanotte!

Unusual Florence part 1: Boutique Nadine!

Good morning and have a nice week everyone!

I finally decided to start the #unusualflorence tour. What is Unusual Florence? A different map of Florence including the most important landmarks of the city and 16 spaces of different uses (boutiques, bars, libraries) but with a lot in common. Young people full of inspiring ideas hoping to beat the crisis by focusing on quality above all! Many of these places are of course familiar, others are yet to be discovered. So one by one we are going to discover all of these “unusual” places.

If you ask me this map has to be integrated with every tourist map of Florence. Why? Because all of these places are situated in the most genuine parts of the city, and as you stroll around this map right there you’ll discover Florence, the real thing!

MAPPA_INTERNO_A4_H_2

Of course I have to begin this journey from number 6, a breath away from Ponte Vecchio, Irene’s Boutique Nadine. Actually there are two of them in Florence, Irene’s other half (on number 7) is run by Matteo, a few steps away from Santa Croce church and we are going to visit him very soon!

Crossing Lungarno Acciaiuoli from Ponte Vecchio towards Ponte Santa Trìnita at number 22r is where it all began! A vintage concept store where you can find from silk shirts and designer handbags, to old toys, and magazines, an enchanting place that fulfills all your desires! Everything in this shop is carefully selected which adds to it’s classy character. Of course there is a great focus on vintage but there are also new collections such as their own clothing line Second Floor, Irene’s romantic Odette, and more from new local designers both in clothing and jewellery.

Souvenirs from Venice..

IMG_7558

At this day, exactly one year ago, I was at Venice with Chiara, Sara, Niccolò and Nikos for the Biennale of Architecture!

There are no words to describe this city, I think we all have an image in mind, but every time I visit Venice I discover something new!  I just love getting lost in the same alleys and find myself to the same channel or bridge again and again.. However, what fascinates me most is that this city is the same as it was five hundred years ago! The transportation is on foot or by boat, which adds to the romantic character of the city.

When you visit the Venice Biennale the fact is that you do not have much time to see the city, just in the afternoon on the way back completely tired but always with an appetite for a Spritz! Spritz is definitely my favorite beverage and in Venice you have to try it with Select instead of Aperol or Campari. There are two late-night (ok, not that late!) drinking areas in Venice, the one is Campo Santa Margherita and the other one is Erbaria close to Rialto bridge.

Soooo prepare to get lost at Venice and have a Spritz for me! Have a nice weekend everyone!
