Site specific Valentine’s..

Goodmorning Valentines!!

How did you spend the world’s most commercial holiday..? Well, I have to admit that i’m not the kind that embraces the traditional Valentine’s day, but it’s a day that brings out mixed and different emotions for each of us.

I spent it with Nikos and Donatello and we’ve been to Onassis cultural centre and Candy Chang’s installation School of the Future, the first of her three site-specific installations in Athens.

The classroom reinterpreted without teachers, books or pupils. Visitors find themselves in a space with a school desk at one end surrounded by thousands of big, red balloons. They are invited to write down a lesson life has taught them in a notebook on the desk. In so doing, the visitors become teachers and students at one and the same time: by taking part in a school of collective experience in which the shared encyclopaedia of knowledge consists of the lessons of their individual lives, they can teach but they can also learn.

After all the fun we sat down and shared our thoughts in the collective notebook answering it’s 2 questions :

  • What do you think is important to teach our children?
  • What do you wish you learned while you were in school?

What do you think..?

Hi everyone! Yesterday I attended the Disaronno Terrace event at Società Canottieri Firenze (Rowing club).. It’s the second event organized by Disaronno in Florence and every week they’re organizing similar events all over Italy. Of course the location in Florence is the best by far!

Great music by WHITE CHESTNUT featuring Valentina Nervi and Alessandro Gigli..!

Goodbye Athens..

Yesterday night, after a very long and tiring journey, I returned to Florence. I was in Athens for nearly a month, a break that I so much needed. Spending some quality time with family and friends, doing absolutely nothing for some days, a walk by the sea, a stroll downtown Athens or overlooking the Acropolis, drinks with friends I haven’t seen for a long time, cooking with mommy, go to the movies and just relax. Now that this break is over I will have to adapt to the harsh reality of the exams. This implies that my presence here will be from limited to negligible and my posts and photos will mainly come from my iphone. After that, however, I intend to explore every corner of the city, as this is my last year here in Florence.

Below I share with you some moments of my stay in Athens. 🙂

An unexpected Sunday..

Good morning (or good afternoon!) and have a nice week everyone!

So yesterday all of a sudden, me, Nadia and Nikos arranged a trip to Rome and not for sightseeing as you’ll understand from the following photos. It’s not the first time I was visiting Rome (i’ve been there recently remember..?) so we had a completely different walk than usual.

We arrived around 14:30 and headed straight to Dionysia’s house for lunch. Then we went for coffee close to Piazza di Spagna where Vagelis was added to our company! After that a quick stroll through the streets around Pantheon and then we met Michele at Ginger for an aperitivo! Finally we headed to pick up the last of the gang, Irene, and back to Florence with a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo and my favorite baker for pizza and bombolone alla nutella!!20131202-120221.jpg
