Disaronno Terrace..

Hi everyone! Yesterday I attended the Disaronno Terrace event at Società Canottieri Firenze (Rowing club).. It’s the second event organized by Disaronno in Florence and every week they’re organizing similar events all over Italy. Of course the location in Florence is the best by far!

Great music by WHITE CHESTNUT featuring Valentina Nervi and Alessandro Gigli..!

Irish coffee..

Back between 1939 and 1945 many Americans flew to Ireland in a flying boat. The plane landed at Foynes, Co. Limerick after an 18 hour flight. The passengers were than shuttled by boat to the terminal. On cold damp days the passengers were somewhat chilled after the ride especially in the winter months. They really appreciated a cup of hot coffee or tea upon arrival to the terminal.

The Irish have long taken a little whiskey in their tea. This gave the new chef at the restaurant Joseph Sheridan an idea. He thought he would treat the newly arrived damp miserable Americans to a little Irish hospitality with an American twist. He knew of their taste for coffee, so he added the whiskey to their coffee instead of the Irish way of adding it to tea. One of the pleasantly surprised passengers asked “Is this Brazilian coffee?”, “No”was Joe’s reply “That’s Irish coffee.” So in 1942 the Irish coffee recipe was born. It is now enjoyed all over the world. (source)

In Florence there are several Irish pubs but not all of them are as original and Irish as Finnegan‘s Irish pub. Below the Irish coffee prepared by the Irish  Brendan!

Pre-heat a clear stemmed glass with very hot water.

Empty the water, and add a generous measure of Irish Whiskey.

Making Nadia’s christmas tree!!

All these years in Florence I never get to make a christmas tree, so when Nadia called me today I was more than thrilled to help her! So me, her and Matteo prepared this simple but magical tree, drinking wine and listening to christmas songs..

Goodnight to everyone!

An ordinary Tuesday..

Today I was at the university as every Tuesday. It rained like always and at some point I noticed the amazing lit sky. So I ran to the top floor of the faculty to capture this moment, unfortunately I missed a double rainbow seen only from the other side the building. After that I had an aperitivo with Nadia and Umberto and now i’m heading back home.

Below I share with you some photos from my Instagram profile. Buonanotte!

Art bar..

IMG_5553

Hi everyone!

If you ever find yourself in Florence you have to visit Art bar in Via del Moro.. Daiquiris, mojitos and any other cocktail you prefer, with fresh fruits inside and outside! The place is really small but full of charm and ideal for a cold winter night. In the summertime I usually take a cocktail “on the go” and drink it by the river while I watch the sunset!

For me definitely the best cocktails in town!

Follow me around Rome..

Good morning from Rome!!

For a long time I was thinking of visiting Stephania in Rome, so a little break just before the exams was the perfect opportunity!

IMG_5434

When i visit a place i always want to see everything! And by everything i mean the main attractions, a traditional café, a not so well-known restaurant and of course an alternative place for a drink! So I followed the daily routine of Stephania and Michele!

First of all we attended Stephania’s dance show, which was really great! Then of course we visited the center of Rome and the famous Colosseo, Pantheon, Piazza di Spagna, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza Navona, Bocca della Verità (the Mouth of Truth), Capitoline Hill, Quirinale, and some parts outside the historic center such as Mausoleo di Santa Costanza, the Testaccio area, the MACRO museum and the unique Piazza Mincio. For food and drinks we also went at the Trastevere area which is full of bars, restaurants and beautiful narrow streets, and at the San Lorenzo area where many university students and artists gather,  and old workshops and industries are becoming modern bars and restaurants. I’m not going into the details since Stephania will guide you around Rome in the future, i just want to say that Rome is a fascinating city, the most charming without a doubt and i will definitely come back very soon!
