Unusual Easter..

Happy Easter everyone!

I hope you all had a great time yesterday. My Easter was once again away from my family and all the traditional greek festivities, but I had a great time staying in Florence and since in three months i’m leaving I want to enjoy every corner of this wonderful city..

Unfortunately this year I missed the  Scoppio del Carro, remember this  folk tradition of the city? So me and Nadia went for lunch at 4 Leoni, one of my favorite restaurants where I alaways eat Fiocchetti di pere in salsa di taleggio e asparagi (pasta filled with pear in taleggio cheese and asparagus sauce ) the best dish ever!

Then we went for a coffee at Piazza Santo Spirito and then for a gelato at Gelateria La Carraia, one of my favorite places for ice-cream! Soon i’ll share with you all of my favorite gelato places in Florence!

Aperitivo time! The weather was great and we were close to Ponte Vecchio, so the only place where you can sit outside without all the tourists passing by is Amblé, situated only a few steps away from the famous ladmark, in a well hidden square away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Number 1 on the unusualflorence map! A space designed as a living room where you can eat and shop at the same time, so first you can have a sandwich and if you like the chair or sofa you are sitting on, or the cup of tea you’re drinking you can actually buy them!

I had a Spritz “Bunny” and then a delicious tramezzino.

At first we were only me Nadia and Elisabetta, but slowly the company grew and Matteo Q., Irene, Matteo B., Michele, Francesca and Elisa were added to our lovely company. I had a great time this very “Unusual Easter” thank you guys!

New home for International Studio..

Do you remember My International Hairdresser? From the 19th of December they’ve moved to a new location, Via Panicale 61/r, always at the center of Florence but in a totally different area. So yesterday I finally visited their new amazing home, a unique place located in an ancient convent a few steps away from the church of San Lorenzo. Of course I was impressed by the new International studio but I didn’t expect anything less from Gianluca!

Welcome 2014..

IMG_9582

Happy new year everybody!! What a better way to welcome 2014 than a walk on Philopappou Hill overlooking the Acropolis!

Philopappou hill is also known as Hill of the Muses and is located south-west of the Acropolis. The view from there is breathtaking, besides tha fact that you have in front of you the Parthenon, you have a 360° view of the city. From the Saronic to the Argolic gulf and from mountain Parnitha to Imittos, the entire city of Athens is at your feet! And if you think that the spectacular view is the only reason I went up the hill, you are mistaken! Walking through the different paths you can discover from the Prison of Socrates to Pnyx, you just have to follow the unique stone path made by Dimitris Pikionis in the 50’s.

And while you’re in the heart of an apparently “concrete jungle” at the same time you feel like being somewhere in the countryside, away from all the hustle. I love Athens!!

Souvenirs from Venice..

IMG_7558

At this day, exactly one year ago, I was at Venice with Chiara, Sara, Niccolò and Nikos for the Biennale of Architecture!

There are no words to describe this city, I think we all have an image in mind, but every time I visit Venice I discover something new!  I just love getting lost in the same alleys and find myself to the same channel or bridge again and again.. However, what fascinates me most is that this city is the same as it was five hundred years ago! The transportation is on foot or by boat, which adds to the romantic character of the city.

When you visit the Venice Biennale the fact is that you do not have much time to see the city, just in the afternoon on the way back completely tired but always with an appetite for a Spritz! Spritz is definitely my favorite beverage and in Venice you have to try it with Select instead of Aperol or Campari. There are two late-night (ok, not that late!) drinking areas in Venice, the one is Campo Santa Margherita and the other one is Erbaria close to Rialto bridge.

Soooo prepare to get lost at Venice and have a Spritz for me! Have a nice weekend everyone!

Things from all over the world and among them the unique clothes and clutches of Michele. Along with his sister Francesca they are preparing many inspiring things for the future. Stay tuned!

Milan Design Week ’13..

Hi everyone!

This weekend i took a short trip to Milan, on the occasion of Salone del Mobile. It’s been a really long time since my last visit, but this time i didn’t get the chance to visit the city center.. We visited only the Fuorisalone and only Via Tortona and Via Savona.. The weather was amazing and the streets were filled with people from all over the world!

First stop the Nhow Hotel, where our friend Michele Chiocciolini and his amazing leather clutches were! Art and design made in Tuscany, a collection in leather and fabric with pop echoes created by him!

Then the Soffio installation! The word is italian and means breathing.. The installation is formed from fragments of illuminated glass and LED and by the ‘”rainbow” that it generates, and for the designers it represents the “sensitivity of light and beauty, a low energy that creates a sense of welcome “. The individual light formed by the LEDs represent an ecological city with minimal energy use and sustainable.

IMG_4178

And then the “Fluidic Sculpture in Motion” by Hyundai.. A unique installation that creates dynamic virtual sculptures using lights, conveying the essence of fluidic sculpture, the inspirational role played by nature and the ability to continuously adapt to the changing environment. Is made up of 12.000 translucent spheres suspended above a shallow pool of water. Each sphere is carefully positioned in a highly optimized distribution algorithm which takes into account the location and projection angle of eight high powered laser projectors around the installation. In the photo below me standing on one of the spots where you could “guide” the lights of the sculpture (thanks to Nikos for the photo)!

Fuorisalone ’13..

20130413-213212.jpg

EntropyA..

Entropya comes from the greek ἐν τροπή (inside the transformation), and it’s a synonymous of the measurement of the present disorder in a physical system.

That’s how is called the jewellery designed by the studio AmniosyA!

timthumb (1)

timthumb

The collection comes from a dynamic fluid simulation, in this simulation a planar surface it’s altered from the energy generated by the the physical system, up to the achievement of an harmonic-formal shape. Let’s fall a drop of ink in a glass of water and it will begin to spread in an apparently random state.

Photography: Duilio Gradanti
Photography Assistant : Yazmin Pivaral
Make-up: Gabriela Burca

It’s been a while that i wanted to pass by their studio and learn more about this project.. So today I went to see Elvira, Lucia and Marco and finally got a chance to try the amazing necklace and bracelet!
