Welcome 2014..

Happy new year everybody!! What a better way to welcome 2014 than a walk on Philopappou Hill overlooking the Acropolis!

Philopappou hill is also known as Hill of the Muses and is located south-west of the Acropolis. The view from there is breathtaking, besides tha fact that you have in front of you the Parthenon, you have a 360° view of the city. From the Saronic to the Argolic gulf and from mountain Parnitha to Imittos, the entire city of Athens is at your feet! And if you think that the spectacular view is the only reason I went up the hill, you are mistaken! Walking through the different paths you can discover from the Prison of Socrates to Pnyx, you just have to follow the unique stone path made by Dimitris Pikionis in the 50’s.

And while you’re in the heart of an apparently “concrete jungle” at the same time you feel like being somewhere in the countryside, away from all the hustle. I love Athens!!

I would like to use one of your photos of Philopappou Hill in a book chapter. How can I get your permission? Thanks
