Last week while i was searching some information on the internet about my exercise i came upon this post on the Atenistas blog..
Atenistas is a movement by Athenian citizens organizing a series of initiatives trying to improve Athens. They pay great attention to the power of the team, especially in small scale. With this in mind they act together starting from the simple everyday things that can change the image of the neighborhood.
A pocket park is a small park accessible to the general public. How i see it? As a unique opportunity to create drops of urban green in the overconstructed center of Athens.
Here some pictures of the work Atenistas did at an empty lot at Pagrati, which, like many others, had long been left in complete abandonment – the only thing that testified that there was once a playground was a pit full of trash and the cement left in ground to support the games.
The idea was successful, and of course they are already looking for the next empty lots. You can tell them here!
